Kobe Bryant came into Boston looking to help the Lakers continue their winning way, but Kendrick Perkins and company had other plans. Perkins career night of 21 points and 9 rebounds, which included numerous dunks, kept the crowd in the game and the Lakers defense off balance. Trying to account for the Big Three opened things of for Perk all game. Kevin Garnett continued his MVP play with a 21 point 11 rebound performance.
The TD Banknorth Garden was reminiscent of the old time Celtics-Lakers games with chants of Beat LA reverberating through the arena. Ellen Pompeo of Greys Anatomy and Arnold Schwarzenegger were in attendance giving the game some Hollywood feel.
Kobe Bryant had a tough fist half, but did manage to drop 28 points on a night when boos rained down every time he touched the ball. The lack of support allowed the C’s to build a 22 point lead during the third quarter, but Ray Allen and Paul Pierce were too much firepower to go along with Garnett and Perk.
It was nice to see the green and white get the better of the rivalry that has been dominated by the Lakers over the last few years. The 13 point margin of victory is the biggest for the Celtics over the Lakers since 2002. The win snapped a three game winning streak for the Lakers and upped the Celtics league best record to 10-1. Next up for the Celtics will be the Charlotte Bobcats Sunday evening.

The Celtics continued thei winning way to start the 2007-08 season with a solid win in Indiana. The Celtics were led by Paul Pierce who lit up the scoreboard with a 23 point first half on his way to a game high 31. Kevin Garnett is proving to be the best trade of the off season with his sixth straight double double netting 18 points and pulling down 11 boards.
The Pacers kept the game close for most of the first half, but a 13 point outburst by Pierce in the final 3 minutes of the second quarter put the C’s ahead for good. Ray Allen was quite in the first half and failed to register a basket, but came out shooting with an impressive 15 point third quater. The only real offense for the Pacers was Danny Granger who tried his best keeping the Pacers close with 24 points.
For those wondering if how many more wind the green and white need to match their franchise best start, well that oul be 14-0 from the 57-58 squad. Next up for he Celtics are the New Jersey Nets at home tomorow night. The Nets will most likely be without Vince Carter who suffered a grade 1 sprained ankle during the game on Saturday night.

If Kevin Garnett keeps up his current level of play the MVP race will be over by the All-Star break. Garnett helped the Celtics easily take care of an improved Atlanta Hawks team in Boston 106-83. The resurgent C’s are off to their best start since 1986-87 when they began the year 6-0 en route to an Eastern Conference Finals appearance. It’s only fitting that the new Big Three of Garnett, Allen, and Pierce have led the surge that was last done by the original Big Three of Bird, McHale, and Parish.
Atlants came into tonight’s game with a hard luck 2-2 record after losing 2 games by a combined 6 points. Their two wins coming against perennial Western powerhouse Dallas and a very strong Phoenix team. Atlanta kept it close for the first quarter and led for a short time, but Garnett was an unstoppable force inside against a Hawks team with no solid presence down low. Garnett accomplished his fourth straight double double one minute into he second quarter when he pulled down his tenth rebound.
Garnett was joined in his 27 point 19 rebound night by Paul Pierce dropping 23. Ray Allen had his lowest scoring night as a Celtic with only 14, but new comer Eddie House was a monster chipping in 19 points of his own. The Celtics also added to their league leading margin of victory average which is currently at 16 points per game. They have also averaged a winning margin of 24 points per game at home.
The Celtics travel to New Jersey to take on the 4-1 Nets on Saturday at 7:30. I’ll be at the game and can’t wait to see this team in person!

It was practically over before it started for the Denver Nuggets in Boston. Denver never led and trailed by over 40 points during the third quarter. The new big three in Boston showed up once again with Paul Pierce putting up a game high 26 points, Ray Allen added 22 points and 6 assists, and Kevin Garnett added his third double double with 23 points and 13 rebounds.
The first half was something Celtic fans have not seen since the days of Bird, McHale, and Parish. The Celtics overpowered the Nuggets by shooting an incredible 72 percent. Garnett had his double double sealed up by the half and the only category the Nuggets had a higher number in was turnovers. This is a game they will want to forget.
The Celtics will host the Atlanta Hawks on Friday and travel to New Jersey to take on te Nets Saturday evening. The Hawks are coming off a big win against the Phoenix Suns this evening so they should be able to provide more of a challenge to the new look green and white.

After a blowout opening game win at home against the Washington Wizards the new Big Three had to go to overtime to get their record to 2-0. Another new member of the revitalized Celtics was the key to a closer than anticipated road win in Toronto. Ray Allen finished the game just as hot as he started with a last second 3 pointer with 2 seconds remaining to seal the victory. Allen had a 13 point first quarter and finished the game with 33 after hitting his baseline game winning shot. Kevin Garnett picked the right time to shine as he scored 10 of his 23 points in the extra session to finish with 23 points and 13 boards for his second double-double as a Celtic.
The green and white led by as many as 11 points, but Toronto staged a strong fourth quarter comeback behind Chris Bosh and TJ Ford. Both made baskets in the last minute to force the overtime and Paul Pierce missed a last second jumper from the top of the key to win it at the end of regulation. In the end though Allen’s complete game led to the 95-98 win for the new look Celtics.
Today was also a day of milestones for Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Pierce moved into sixth place on the Celtics all time scoring list passing Sam Jones with his 13 point performance. Ray Allen surpassed the 17,000 point barrier during the game that highlighted why the Celtics were so high on picking him up during the off season.
